A selection of paintings by Duart Bel Silva completed in the period 2022 through 2024, consisting of larger format canvasses from two series' of works; The Sleep of Reason - a response to the invasion of, and ongoing war in, the Ukraine, and From Madeira,Too - abstracts drawn from the volcanic landscapes of that Atlantic island.

About the artist
After a career in ballet and acting, in New York, Los Angeles and London, Duart studied fine art, graduating with a degree in sculpture. Soon realising that his actual interest lay in painting, he established his studio practice in 2012, moving to Thames-Side Studios in 2016, where he occupies Studio 5-115. He divides his time between his studio practice and part-time work at Central Saint Martin’s, UAL.
