Our 2024 Woolwich Open Studios took place on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June, 11am-5pm. Thames-Side Studios operate the UK's largest site of artist and maker spaces. We are home to an impressive array of artists, makers and designers. This is a unique opportunity to meet them, talk about what they do, and to buy directly from their studios. Saturday 15th June | 12:00-1:30 | The Lounge Terrarium Making Workshop with Fran Reeves Come and join Fran to create your very own terrarium. With a selection of plants to choose from, she'll help guide you to make your very own one-of-a-kind terrarium garden! Drop in session. Suitable for children 5+. Sunday 16th June | 12:00-1:30 | The Lounge Plantable Seed Paper with Miyuki Kasahara Miyuki invites visitors to create recycled paper cards. You’ll use the studio holders' waste paper including food packaging, newspapers and magazines. Miyuki will also bring along wildflowers, plants and seeds to use in your designs! Drop in session. Sunday 16th June | 2:30-4:00 | The Lounge Introduction to Weaving with Xuan Yeo & Seb Bradshaw An accessible tapestry-style weaving workshop suited for beginners of all ages. Using simple cardboard looms, create a colourful decorative patch. You are encouraged to bring a stick, a rock, or any object you are happy to weave over or alter. Drop in session. Saturday 15th June | 12:30-2:00 | Education Space Creative Badge Making with Ania Pawlik Come along to create your own unique and personalised badges with a positive message to share with the world. Saturday 15th June | 3:00-4:40 | Education Space Thames Plastic Workshop with Di Jones Engage in this fun and creative workshop creating sculpture and images using clean domestic waste. You’ll use items such as plastic food and drink packaging and 'Thames Plastic' found along the river in East London and the Thames Estuary. Drop in session. Suitable for all ages. Sunday 16th June | 12:30-2:00 | Education Space Family Jewellery Workshop with Cordelia Stewart In this Family Jewellery Workshop, you will make a funky beaded bracelet, pendant or one of a kind pair of earrings. The simple bracelets are free. Earrings £1. Children under 10 years old will need to be accompanied by a parent or adult. 10+ can attend unaccompanied. Drop in session. Suitable for children 7+. Sunday 16th June | 3:00-4:30 | Education Space Larking with Mud (Clay) with Fiona Veacock A fun workshop working with studio clay for any age or ability. In a magnificent space with a panoramic view of the river, design something with clay inspired by the water. Your model could be a boat, water, fish or life buoy. Drop in session.
