About Catherine Gerbrands

Catherine Gerbrands is a London-based artist and musician, originally from Far North Queensland, Australia.

She has primarily worked in oils, pastels and ink to explore the souls of her natural subjects, allowing the forms to evolve into surreal patterns and often dark, absurdist creatures, but has also moved into printmaking in recent years, finding particular satisfaction in the simplicity of working directly onto copper.

After growing up in the primordial jungle, she has formed a deep connection with the ancient woodlands of the UK, choosing to live in between Oxleas and Bostall Woods, marrying at Loughton Camp in Epping and walking regularly in Kent.
