About Hartash Dale

In the maintenance of file systems, defragging is a process that reduces the degree of fragmentation. Fragmentation occurs when the file system cannot or will not allocate enough contiguous space to store a complete file as a unit, but instead puts parts of it in gaps between existing files.

Defrag I and Defrag II were completed in early 2020 against a background of the UK seemingly pulling itself apart at the seams, massive protests about Brexit and climate breakdown. And then Covid-19 made its appearance. In making these work Hartash has collaged fragments of old and new work into a new disturbed coherence.
