About Kay Senior

Kay Senior is a printmaker and sculptor experimenting with collagraph, papermaking, found materials, clay and casting to discover gestural and expressive forms. She explores how art making can express emotions, reflect states of mind and be a bridge between internal and external worlds.

Her work embodies the dynamic of the state of flux which is expressed through process led sculptures and collagraph prints. The prints made with found materials reflect the materiality of the urban environment where she lives and refer to forms seen in the natural landscape in Yorkshire where she is originally from. There are references to geology in terms of structure, texture, forces, movement, and erosion. The focus is on the tension between fragility and resilience which are recurrent themes in her work.

She has exhibited in several group shows and solo shows in London, the UK and internationally. Her work is held in national collections at the V&A, Scarborough Museum Deposition and in private collections. She has received a Printmakers Council Graduate Award. She is a member of the Changeable Beast Artists Collective and The Five Printmakers.
